A Rough Green Snake In The Sand

The Rough Green Snake prefers thick brush, so it surprised me to see this one crawling through sand. It was out in the open with no brush or trees around. They also don’t spend a lot of time on the ground. I’m guessing this one was moving to a different area and had to cross the sand to get where it wanted to go.

I got low while hand-holding my camera and lens to photograph this snake. If you look closely, you can see me in the snake’s eye.
