White-tailed fawns resting in quiet places can make a peaceful morning feel even calmer. I found these two taking a break at Mount Nebo State Park in Arkansas.
Each fawn chose a different setting, giving me two distinct views of a quiet moment.
White-tailed Fawns Resting at Mount Nebo
The first fawn rested near the edge of the grass beneath a tangle of low branches. Its folded legs were mostly hidden beneath its body.
The fawn turned its head to the side while keeping its ears raised. Its spotted coat stood out against the leaves, pine needles, and green grass.
The surrounding branches made the setting feel sheltered. They also helped show how easily a resting fawn can blend into the woodland edge.
The second fawn selected a more open place in the grass. It faced me with both ears raised and its legs tucked beneath its body.
Its white spots were easy to see against the reddish-brown coat. The open grass created a much simpler background than the first location.
Two Different Resting Places
These photographs show how much the surroundings can change the feeling of a wildlife image. The first scene has branches, leaves, and shadows throughout the background.
The second photograph feels more open. The green grass surrounds the fawn and keeps attention on its face and spotted coat.
Both fawns appeared settled, but their raised ears and open eyes showed that they remained aware of their surroundings.
I simply photographed the quiet scenes in front of me.
More Deer From the Same Mount Nebo Visit
These resting fawns were only part of what I photographed that morning. During the same visit, I also watched White-tailed Deer grooming at Mount Nebo and photographed White-tailed Deer triplets at Mount Nebo.
I also found velvet bucks gathered near water at Mount Nebo. Each encounter showed a different part of that productive morning at the park.
These two resting fawns brought a quieter ending to the story. One settled beside low branches, while the other rested in the open grass. Both gave me another peaceful Arkansas wildlife encounter worth remembering.
