Rock Wren

I photographed this Rock Wren at Antelope Island State Park in Utah.

The Rock Wren (Salpinctes obsoletus) is a species of bird in the family Troglodytidae, also known as wrens. It is native to western North America and is found in rocky, arid habitats such as deserts, canyons, and talus slopes. They are brown and streaked with white and black, and have a long, decurved bill. The Rock Wren is known for its rich, melodious songs which it uses to defend its territory.

Rock Wrens at Antelope Island State Park, Utah

Antelope Island State Park, located in the Great Salt Lake of Utah, is a prime destination for Wildlife Photographers, Bird Watchers and nature enthusiasts alike. One of the most interesting bird species that can be seen at the park is the Rock Wren.

The Rock Wren (Salpinctes obsoletus) is a small bird with a round body, short tail, and a distinctive, cocked tail that is held vertically. This bird is known for its loud and repetitive song, which can be heard echoing across the rocky cliffs and sagebrush-covered hills of Antelope Island.
