This Great Blue Heron had a problem. I’m not sure what it was. I never did see it cough anything up.

This Great Blue Heron was hunting in a flooded roadside ditch at the Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma. This is the same ditch that I photographed a Barred Owl Hunting A Roadside Ditch.

I photographed this Great Blue Heron with a shad at the Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma. This was in February 2012. I am not seeing many of these birds this winter like I normally do. Maybe they are in the backwater areas and far from the auto tour road.
