Eastern Bluebird Fledgling Feeding Continues in My Yard

It’s been a joy to watch the Eastern Bluebird fledgling feeding continue here in my yard. I took these latest photos on May 19th. Mom Bluebird is still working hard to care for her young. Even now, weeks after they left the nest, she returns again and again with insects in her beak.

She’s mostly feeding them mealworms that I put out. That’s helped her stay focused on feeding without flying far. The little ones grow more vocal and active each day. They flutter their wings and call out the moment she appears. It’s clear they still rely on her more than I expected this far out from fledging.

A Close Look at Motherly Devotion

This post is part of an ongoing story I’ve been sharing. You can see how it began in Solo Bluebird Mother Raises Chicks Alone in My Yard. That post first captured the mother bird’s solo efforts. Since then, I’ve followed her progress closely.

These new shots show a quieter moment compared to the hustle of early spring. No nest building. No competing males. Just steady care as she feeds one persistent fledgling after another. It’s a calmer season now, but her work continues.

Eastern Bluebird Moments I’ll Remember

Watching these birds up close, right here in my own yard, never gets old. Each photo reminds me of the patience and effort it takes to be a parent in the wild. This female has shown nothing but resolve.
