It’s a moment we’ve all been waiting for – the Eastern bluebird chicks in my backyard are making their grand debut!
This morning, June 15th, 2024, I was thrilled to catch a glimpse of two curious little faces peering out of the birdhouse. Their bright eyes and fluffy down signaled the exciting next chapter in this captivating bluebird saga (remember the first brood documented on this blog and social media?).
Quick Snaps and Back to Business
I managed to capture a few quick photos of these adorable chick ambassadors, but my priority remained ensuring minimal disruption to the busy parents. They’re working tirelessly to keep their hungry brood well-fed, and I wouldn’t want to cause any unnecessary stress.
Uncertain Numbers and Responsible Observation
While I don’t know the exact number of chicks nestled inside the birdhouse, I’m content to observe from a respectful distance. Checking too frequently can be stressful for the parents, and I wouldn’t want to encourage premature fledging.
Memories in the Making
Those who follow me here and on social media know the heartwarming story of the first Eastern bluebird chicks to fledge from this very birdhouse earlier this year. Sadly, the first female disappeared, but a new female stepped in, and here we are again, witnessing the miracle of life unfold.
The Countdown Begins
It won’t be long before these curious chicks decide to take the plunge and explore the world beyond the nest box. I’m eagerly anticipating witnessing this milestone, just like I did with the first brood.
Stay tuned for further updates!
As the chicks continue to grow and develop, I’ll share their progress and hopefully capture some more photos (without disturbing the parents, of course!). In the meantime, feel free to share your well wishes for this new generation of bluebirds in the comments below!
I love this post and the images of their sweet baby faces!
