Dark Dragonfly

In the United States dragonflies are sought out as a hobby similar to birding and butterflying, known as oding. Oding, from the dragonfly’s Latin species name, odonata. Oding is especially popular in Texas. With care, dragonflies can be handled and released by Oders, unlike butterflies.

Scissor-tailed Flycatcher

The Scissor-tailed Flycatcher should be leaving Arkansas soon and migrating through Texas and eastern Mexico to their winter non-breeding range, from southern Mexico to Panama. Pre-migratory roosts and flocks flying south may contain as many as 1,000 birds.

Barred Owl 3

The diet of the Barred Owl consists mostly of mice of many species, but it also feeds on rabbits, chipmunks, foxes, Opossums and also birds such as grouse and doves. It occasionally wades into water in order to capture fish or terrapins.
