Water Moccasin Crossing Gravel Road

I photographed this Water Moccasin crossing a gravel road at the Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma.

It seems like I’m not seeing very many Water Moccasins this summer like I normally do.

How Close Do I Get When Photographing Snakes

Snakes are fascinating creatures that can make for stunning photographs. However, they can also be dangerous, so it’s important to take safety precautions when photographing them. Here are some tips to help you safely capture stunning images of snakes.

  1. Research the species: Before you attempt to photograph a snake, research the species and its behavior. Some snakes are more aggressive than others, and it’s important to know what you’re dealing with.

  5. Be respectful: Snakes are wild animals and should be treated with respect. Do not disturb their habitats or disrupt their natural behavior.

  6. Stay alert: Always be aware of your surroundings and keep an eye out for any signs of danger. If you feel threatened, remove yourself from the situation immediately.
