I took these photos this past Sunday under the Garrison Ave. Bridge located at Fort Smith, Arkansas. The Cliff Swallows had arrived about a week ago and started building.
The first set of photos show the swallows gathering mud: New Home Construction (Cliff Swallow)

Outstanding closeup shots of the nesting Cliff Swallows, Steve! I posted some shots of a similar colony down here in Houston just last week, but didn’t get anywhere near the quality of photos you did. You always amaze me with the bird and wildlife shots you post. Fantastic!

hmmm…I don’t see any permits posted…and these (as always) excellent close-ups really let me home in on the code violations….

I have been trying to identify this type of bird for a while. I live in Salem, OR, and have seen about 200 or so on the Marion st bridge.
