At this time of year the deer and elk are getting rid of winter coats, so they look a little poor. This photo shows that mule deer also need to clean between there teeth.

The wild burros (or more accurately, feral burros) on the western range lands descend from animals that ran away, were abandoned, or were freed. Wild burros in the United States were protected by Pub.L. 92-195, the Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act of 1971.
