I spot this small American Kestrel just about every time I drive into the Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge. I finally was able to get close enough for a photo.

The American Kestrel characteristically hunts along roadsides from telephone wires, fence posts, trees or other convenient perches when not flying in search of food.
