Red Harvester Ants

Red Harvester Ants can be aggressive and have a painful sting that spreads through the lymph nodes, sometimes causing reactions, especially in animals allergic to their venom. They can also bite ferociously.

One of the most painful ants I have ever been stung by.

thanks for taking the risk of getting stung to take this picture steve. Ants are just fascinating creatures to watch.

Wonderful shot, especially with the Queen. I just learned that the queen will breed workers for 1-20 years! That’s a lot of additional red harvester ants.

I didn’t know that about the queen. Thanks for sharing!
