Red-belled Woodpecker Feeding Its Young

This has been a great year for me in reference to being able to view and photograph two different types of Woodpeckers feeding their young. (Pileated Woodpecker Feeding Young)

The lighting and the area that I was shooting in were terrible when it comes to getting a great photograph. The above Woodpeckers were located in a fork of a large pine tree. The weather was never good enough and I was only able to get the above photos in a short time period. The young Red-bellied Woodpecker was gone the next day after these were taken.

This family of Re-bellied Woodpeckers were only about 100 yards from the Pileated Woodpecker Feeding Young I photographed back in Early May.

Oh Steve, these are wonderful! I have never seen a young Red-bellied Woodpecker before. I love the hint of red on its fuzzy little head. Lucky you!

Poor lighting and yet you were able to get these wonderful pictures to share with the world & just in time before the little one was on it’s own. The little chick is just sooooo cute.

That is great, I have a red belly in my yard, I’m not sure if it is nesting or not. What is the one you photographed feeding the babies? Looks like a fruit or berry of some type.

I’m not sure what those berries are called Linda.
