One-eyed Slider Turtle In My Yard

A Slider Turtle In My Yard

While I was working in my yard I observed this large slider turtle passing through. I grabbed my pocket camera and when I got close to the turtle I noticed that it had only one good eye. I was able to get close as long as I stayed on this turtles blind side.

Awww–poor baby. Hope he/she does well despite this.

Nasty looking injury – looks quite recent from the skin flaps etc… amazing what animals can do despite disabilities… I’m sure this baby from the size of it will do just fine – though in the full body shots it looks as if its been run over by a car… and doesn’t that happen to so many of our turtle friends?

    Nice shots Steve.

Awww…so sorry for him. But, it looks like he’s surviving. Great discovery and images, Steve!
