A Mule Deer and A Person

This Mule Deer was curious about this person.

The first wildlife I started seeing on my visit to Zion National Park was the Mule Deer. They seem to be everywhere. I even came upon a few that I had to share the trail with.

The person in the above photo didn’t approach the deer but the deer approached him. The Mule Deer were feeding along the trail and this guy just stopped and watched them. The deer at first moved up a hill to go around the few people who were on the trail. This one Mule Deer came back down the hill and got close to this one person.

I guess these deer see thousands of people everyday and it’s no big deal to them anymore. I was happy with the handful of people who were on this hike because they just left them alone.

We don’t have Mule Deer in Arkansas so I always enjoy seeing and photographing them.

I didn’t have my big camera on these hikes so these were taken with the Canon PowerShot SX50 HS or my iPhone.

Dick, I’ll bet seeing Mule Deer is a treat for you, just like seeing White-tailed is for me. Interesting shot of the deer approaching that guy.

I love seeing our Mule Deer but I also enjoy seeing White-tailed Deer up in Montana. I didn’t realize they were so friendly in Zion NP but it makes perfect sense.

Oops, I meant Steve, not Dick. Sorry – need more coffee…
