I arrived in Colorado today and took some photos of the High Park fire. I traveled a few back roads to get closer and saw the National Guard there and they were closing roads. The fire seemed to really take off later this afternoon, as the winds were up to 50 mph.

Steve, thank you for posting this image. Loveland, Colorado was my hometown growing up so I immediately recognized where this image was taken and it really gives me some perspective of the fire. I have a friend that lives down at the end of that valley!
Good luck and stay safe,
chris
Scary to see such a huge fire. Stay well Steve
I worry about the fire fighters having to battle such a huge fire. I know a lot of homes have also been lost.
WOW… that’s some shot… huge fire.
Beautiful picture..but so destructive! I feel for the folks in its path and the firefighters…but feel even more for all the wildlife..never a good time for a fire, but lots of babies in the woods right now.
I have never loast anything to a natural disaster yet, and these forest fires have to be the most damnable situations on the entire planet! Just an observation I would make. The animal life of the area also suffers. Thanks for showing us what is happening out there and my prayers go out to the human victims who have lost so much.

Ohhhh! such a devastation! An amazing capture, though!
Awesome photograph, in the truest sense of the word Steve – and so terribly devastating for wildlife, people, the noble firefighters who work so terribly hard to protect everyone.
Thanks for sharing… and prayers for everyone’s and everything’s safety.
