Groundhog Day 2013: No Shadow For Punxsutawney Phil

Groundhog Day 2013: No Shadow For Punxsutawney Phil Photo

A Groundhog I Photographed A Few Years Ago Here In Arkansas

Punxsutawney Phil didn’t see his shadow this morning (February 2, 2013) so spring should be just around the corner.

According to folklore, no shadow for Phil means “there will be an early spring.” Had Phil seen his shadow, it would have meant six more weeks of winter.

Here in Arkansas he would have seen his shadow.

We actually saw a Punxsutawney Phil while visiting my husband’s grandma in Punxsutawney, PA. And my husband is Phil but not the groundhog! My daffodils are sprouting already in Oregon! Thanks for sharing. But do we really believe in the myth of the shadow?
