Update: Phil predicts 6 more weeks of winter.
Every February 2 for over 125 years, a groundhog named Phil emerges from his burrow on Gobbler’s Knob in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to predict the weather for the rest of the winter season. If Phil sees his shadow, then there will be six weeks of more winter weather. If he doesn’t see his shadow, spring will come early.

Others might disagree but I think Groundhogs are cute!
If it’s 6 more weeks of this winter it won’t be so bad, except I miss a good snowstorm. Maybe just 1 before winter is over? Lexie our Siberian Huskey has started shedding, that’s our personal indicator winter is nearly over here in NW Ark. This doesn’t usually happen until March. Great photo of groundhog, love it’s big teeth.
So in Ontario, Wiarton Willy, a very pampered white groundhog, pops up to let us know what’s what in terms of Spring’s arrival, and he begs to differ with your Punxsutawney Phil. Willy says spring will be early this year… either way, I suspect it’s bound to be six more weeks of uncertain snow, rain, cold, mild, windy, blustery, peculiar weather.
Love your photos Steve.
And I agree with Judi – one great big snow storm, just one where I’m not out driving would be terrific.
Haha, I agree with Mia. They are cute. Look at those front teeth.
Nice photos.

Barbara, thanks for the info on Wiarton Willy. I didn’t know about that one.
