This is so cool. I was just working a few minutes ago on trying to categorize some of my pondhawk photo’s. Like some other dragonflies this one is a little complicated by the changes in color as the males mature.

You are right they are a little difficult to categorize.
I took a photo of one eating a damselfly yesterday and will be posting it soon.
I think it was one of these that flew into my studio bright green with some black on the body ‘tail’ it had a look round the house and then flew back into the garden.. I do not live near a pond or water in fact I live in the middle of Lonon! it was about 5 inches long flew in and out for 5 mins then left I was so stunned I did not take a photo, if not this what was it?/
