I spotted two Coyotes harassing some deer at the Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma. This one was heading into the cornfield but stopped for a second to check out the other coyote and or deer. The other Coyote didn’t give up as easy but after a few minutes it also disappeared into the cornfield. The deer went back to eating.

So very beautiful amid the tall, green corn stalks. Fantastic capture!
Great shot! That looks like a healthy creature if a bit lean through the belly. For them to be chasing deer there must be few gophers around and other small rodents – or perhaps it’s just for fun that they do this Steve, do you know?
Coyotes from our canyon are now coming into our backyards looking to feed their young.
I have a full sized collie who let’s us know when they are about. But they are brazen and
desperate. Small dogs and cats disappear. Yet I feel
sorry for them.
This is a beautiful shot Steve.
Barbara, they didn’t seem serious about attacking the deer and the deer didn’t seem concerned either. I think it would have been a different story if a fawn was around.
Thanks Julie and Lili! I know Coyotes are hated but they are an amazing animal that I have a lot of respect for.
I like wolves. I have a print in my office at home of Jim Brandenburg’s grey wolf standing in the snow with trees behind. It is beautiful!
I certainly don’t hate them. I love these
misunderstood animals. If it wasn’t the “wrong thing to do” I would leave food on the other side of our canyon fence. But I know I have to leave them to fend for themselves. I’ve
asked animal control why they can’t trap them and release them into the mountains nearby.
I don’t remember their explanation, it was a long time ago, they won’t do it. They aren’t afraid of us. I have been on the other side of the window screen in a stare down with one
until hee just got tired of it and sauntered away. He had beautiful eyes, and a lovely coat.
They are sure hated in some areas around me: http://stevecreek.com/coyote-hatred/
