Bobcat With Part Of Ear Missing

By | March 12, 2014

When I’m out photographing wildlife, I try to find some type of marking or other characteristics on the animal that will help me decide if I have seen it before. This Bobcat has made that easy for me with part of its ear missing. I believe this is the first time I have seen this one.

The past couple of weeks have been great for viewing Bobcats that are at the Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma. I will post more photos of this beautiful animal in a couple of days and where I first spotted it.

Thanks Jim! As big and as healthy as this cat is, I would like to see what took it on.

That would be interesting as you say Steve,.wondering what other animal damaged his ear. He is still an handsome bobcat though. Great capture. !

What a super picture of an animal we seldom see here in southern Ontario… perhaps a fight with another cat took part of its ear? or an attempt to capture a particularly feisty morsel for its dinner, instead losing a piece of its own flesh?

    Great shot nonetheless!
