Wonderful shots. I have lots of beaver memories from childhood visits to a local beaver pond…something my father loved to do.
Awesome pose on first one that you captured so well. Love the lighting on third.
So yesterday’s post: sparring vs courting – will we ever know????
It would only be a guess on my part!
Very beautiful pictures… The animal seems almost tame!
I agree with Maria Rosa – the lighting on the third photo is brilliant – nice shot Steve – all are fascinating. Of course with beavers being one of Canada’s symbols – it’s neat to me that our American friends find them as interesting as we do. There’s a family of beavers near me that has built a series of dams on a small creek, flooded almost an acre of land with the first one, and then there are smaller ponds behind each dam – great engineers!
I love your work Steve, not only are you excellent at what you love to do, but you take us back to wonderful memories too. The “Love of my Life” took me to see a hidden Beaver Dam on a private lake, and as we watched them work and play, he kissed me for the first time…..the beginning of an exciting and beautiful 23 year relationship until his death a few years ago. For me, the two beavers are courting, of course! Thanks Steve.
I love the light on the beaver in the third photograph! Simply beautiful.

Amazing how they just seem to let you capture them without apprehension. No fear in their eyes. Lovely! ~j~
He is darling and it is remarkable you could get them to pose so well for you!!! Everything runs from me at the farm!!

I love these photographs so close and intimate I love the first one especially!
