Here is my list so far for just the month of February:

Carolina Chickadee

I love to watch these woodpeckers especially on the suet feeders. Their approach is certainly different from other birds that feed there. Always appreciate the contrast of color with the red as the highlight. Glad he made it to your backyard list!!

Beautiful shot of a female – do you have a mated pair Steve? The pair I had used to bring around the young every day, but one of my Labs caught a young one and ruffled its feathers so much that I’ve only seen the red bellies once since then. This is the extreme northern limit of their range… so it was awesome to see them…though from the Christmas bird count there seem to be many more arriving each year.

Fabulous shots of this little gal Steve – just terrific. They are beautiful birds.

Gret shots, especially because you can see why they are called “Red Bellied” Woodpeckers

We get the red shafted flicker, which is a big bird, in the woodpecker family. So far, I’ve seen the male. Once in awhile the female appears. Was able to photograph it the other day through the window at our suet feeder. Will show it sometime. Thanks for sharing!
