I photographed this large 12 point Whitetail Buck yesterday and you can see that is not in velvet. I get excited when I can get close enough to photograph one of these large elusive bucks. While I was photographing this buck I took my eye off of it just for a couple of seconds and it disappeared. They are almost like a ghost on how they can just disappear.
Here are a few bucks I photographed back in August: A Few Large Whitetail Bucks

Great shots!!
Thank you Steve!
These shots are wonderful- you must have amazing tracking abilities. One of my uncles was nicknamed Buck for all the bucks that he shot (and I don’t mean on film) – he tracked them during the summer and teased the other hunters with his tales of them, which they thought were wild stories until deer season, when he bagged one. A collection of antlers and stories about his hunting prowess remain. Anyway, he maintained that only the best woodsmen ever saw a buck. Your photos would have impressed him. thanks for reminding of him!
Thanks Deb! Most people that have seen me out stalking wildlife have commented that my eyesight is what amazes them. The funny thing is I have to wear trifocals but I don’t while I am out with my camera. I need to write a post on how I go about getting close to wildlife. The good thing about most wildlife refuges is that you can see a lot of wildlife from your vehicle.
Steve:
A very old deer! Great photographs!

He just looks so in charge of the area and not too concerned about you being near. You do have a fantastic talent, due to so many years communing with wildlife and daily trips to the woods. We reap the benefits with your wonderful photography.
Thanks Greg and Judi!
