Yesterday I posted photos of when I first saw this Great Horned Owl With a Gopher. The photos show the Owl flying away from me. As I was leaving the area the Owl flew back toward me with the Gopher and it landed on a stump just a few steps away. I was able to get a few closeup photos before it flew away to another tree where it began eating the gopher.

I agree with Dan! Awesome!
Great shots, always like owls, hawks and eagles. Amazing you were able to get so close.
Amazing!
Thanks everyone! I actually had to move away from the Owl to get these photos because it was to close for my long lens. Tomorrow I will post photos of a Barred Owl I took this same day catching Crawdads.
Holy smoke – owls are fabulous birds and so hard to photograph – you have indeed been blessed by the bird gods… lucky us to have you capturing such grace and wild beauty!
Outstanding shots!!!
Thank you both! I wanted to show that this was the same owl by showing the Gopher.
Fabulous shots… he looks like he’s sizing you up… and has decided if need be he can take you..LOL Beautiful bird.
Just amazing, Steve. Terrific shots!
great images, Steve!
Nice detailed shots Steve. Fantastic to be able to get so close to the owl.
Absolutely great series, yesterday & today. You are truely blessed! Loved Capt. Elaine’s comment, and I think she’s right. Amazing how he wanted you to see his catch and came so close to you, apparently for most wildlife your posture & scent is not a threat. Congrats!
I like today and yesterday’s photos! Thanks for sharing.
Oh, wow – what a great series, Steve. Especially that second one
