The weather here in Arkansas was great on New Years Day and I received information that the Elk are really concentrated in one area of the Buffalo National River. I made a trip to this area and was able to get a few elk photos which I will share on a later date. I’m always on the watch for the birds in the area and spotted this Downy Woodpecker looking for a meal.

Wow–what a great sequence of Downy pics–thanks for sharing! john
I like how you were able to get the foot in – I’m always intrigued by how they work their way up and down the trees using their toes and tails.
Brilliant shots. Congrats!
Thanks everyone!
