I was driving through the Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge on my way to a trail located near the Arkansas River when I saw this Whitetail Doe with her Button Buck Fawn. I decided to park on the side of the road and take some photos. They were feeding out in this field and they both started feeding toward me. The Doe got so close at one time that I thought she was going to touch the lens on my camera. The last photo shows her sniffing the air trying to smell me.

lovely!
Some of the best photographs I’ve seen of a whitetail. We can see each and every whisker, as well as what appears to be ticks on her ears. Were you wearing scent protection? So close, but she does not appear to recognize you as human or else does not care!

Thanks Steve and Bill. Bill, I do a lot of different things to prepare and I will write a post soon explaining what all that I do.
So gorgeous!!! Love the DOF on #1! I agree with the person who said yesterday that I never get tired of seeing wonderful deer photos!!!
I love the different lighting on the photos. I love seeing the eye lashes on the beautiful eyes especially on the first one and oh yes even capturing the ticks. Hopefully a friend will help her with the ticks soon!! Such great close ups.
I love these pictures Steve! Of all your deer shots this season I think the top one of this lovely doe is my favorite. Beautiful! Hope you have a fabulous weekend
Absolutely beautiful, the first one could hang above our fireplace, except your wolf pic already has that honor. Love that you can count the spots on her nose on #3. How many do you all count? I get between 21 & 24.
Love the first one, with its gorgeous background.
Amazing as always – and definitely awwww – she’s a beauty! well done Steve – you have terrific patience to achieve these remarkable sets of photos. good lesson in animal photography, and birds too for that matter.
Great photographs! My favourite one is the first photograph
Thanks everyone for the great comments and letting me know which one you like the best.
