I watched a couple of Pied-billed Grebes diving and looking for food but as you can see in these photos they also kept an eye on me.

Always an interesting bird and well captured here!
Thanks Steve!
Stunning Steve! WOW!
Thank you Kerri!
Lovely photos of a darling little grebe. I think their little faces are so cute!!
I agree with Linda that those faces are so cute. Love the reflection in the water especially on #3.
Great photos! We have a similar species here in Europe, the Little Grebe. But usually I only get water on the photo if I try to take a picture of them, they seem to dive constantly…
I love your pictures, they are cute! I came accross one of these little birds today while fishing. And though he was a snake at first, then I found out he was in trouble. While hunting for his food he ended up with a ton of fishing line around his poor neck. This is why I tell others how importent it is NOT to leave even a little fishing line behind, that has came off of their fishing rod. They can kill wild life with it! And it is a slow death too. So back to our little freind, I just had to go out in the mucky plants in knee deep water and get him. So I got hold of him and we went to the truck to get in the tackel box. I got my little clipper out and went to work on him, with his neck free of the line. The shakes went away in a little while and he had happy look in his eyes. So I set him free once again and it was like he was doing a dance there for me, staying within ten feet or so of me.
Thanks for your picture, and if you see something like fishing line while out, pick it up if you can and take it home to the trash can.
Joe, I am glad you were able to rescue the bird. I agree about the fishing line. I posted a few photos of an owl that got tangled in fishing line that was not so lucky: http://stevecreek.com/owl-vs-fishing-line/
Thanks for sharing a great story with a happy ending.
