These three Killdeer chicks were what I was watching when the Mockingbird I posted a couple of days ago flew down and started catching insects. (The Wing Flash Of A Northern Mockingbird)
I tried to get a photo of all three Killdeer together but I just could not pull it off. (Remember the 3 Armadillo Triplets)

too cute!
Absolutely splendid !!
I love the third one …. seems to hesitate a lot to go on discovering this big world
You simply amaze me on these pictures. I want to be able to take these great pictures too. I just sent off my pictures for the Ren Contest.
Thank you for posting these cuties!
Wonderful photos! Seldom have seen chicks/youngsters.
Wow! We had kildeer in our fields back in ‘the olden days’ when I lived in the mountains of central British Columbia. The children and I would lie on our backs in the tall grass of the meadow and watch and listen for their flight and their calls. We never did get to see the little ones though. Thanks for filling in the blanks for us. “:O)
Awwwwww. Those are precious. I’ve never seen a baby Killdeer. I have enough trouble finding the adults!
We saw a kildeer nest right next to the sidewalk at our church last summer! Mom was sitting on the nest for a couple of weeks, at least, and would get up and feign broken wing when people walked by. We never did see the chicks, though….
I see lots of Killdeers here in Arkansas and Oklahoma but I have yet to witness the broken wing trick they do.
That first photo is wonderful. I just saw a bunch of Killdeer down here in Florida. I think there are a lot of them here this time of year. I’ve never seen the chicks though; very cool shots!
Thank you Roger!
Steve,
Those baby killdeer are so cute! I spotted a killdeer last year that must have had a nest around a drainage basin of the parking lot at a building where I was parked. It did the broken wing trick so I must have been close to its nest, although I never saw any sign of it. The only way I could take a good picture of it was to through the window of my car. The nearness of the car bothered it less than I did as a pedestrian! I hope I can find it there again this year. Very urban setting.
Thanks Dawn for leaving a comment on my blog. I have lots of these birds around my area here in Arkansas but I have never witness the broken wing trick yet. It is not to often that I get to photograph the young but I get lucky every once in a while.
